Executive Summary
This document presents the curricular design of the Arquitectura program at Universidad Privada de Tacna (UPT) under international standards and the global references of the Body of Knowledge of Architecture . It synthesizes the disciplinary evolution of Arquitectura , from its design and building fundamentals to the demands of resilient, sustainable and smart cities in the 21st century. The program adapts these global references to our regional context:
- Local and national requirements for housing, urban development and heritage conservation.
- Institutional strengths in applied research, innovation in materials, construction methods and project management.
- Emerging trends in digitalization, building automation and sustainability in Arquitectura .
Contemporary Arquitectura integrates the following domains:
- Architectural Design and History, Theory and Criticism
- Core Technical Areas (Building Technology and Construction, Structural Systems, Environmental Systems, Urban Design and Planning)
- Modern Trends (Digital Representation and BIM, Sustainability, Heritage Conservation, Real Estate Development)
- Soft Skills and Professional Ethics.
The pedagogical model rests on four pillars:
- Design excellence: Architectural design studios, structural systems, building technology and construction.
- Digital innovation: BIM modeling, emerging representation technologies and efficient project management.
- Comprehensive sustainability: Circular economy, resilient design, environmental impact and responsible resource management.
- Integral human formation: Virtues, ethical awareness, public responsibility and professional social commitment.
Universidad Privada de Tacna (UPT) , true to its identity, incorporates formation as a pillar, developing in students:
- The ability to discern the ethical and social impact of design and technical decisions.
- Sensitivity to challenges of equity, public safety and community development through the built environment.
- Commitment to integral human development and the common good, especially for vulnerable populations.
- Values-based leadership, professional integrity and service to society.
This curriculum will produce professionals with:
- The ability to conceive, design and oversee the construction of buildings and urban spaces that are safe, functional, sustainable and economically viable.
- Competencies to lead digital transformation in architectural projects using advanced methodologies and tools.
- The ability to integrate design excellence with environmental sustainability, social responsibility and disaster resilience.
- A formation that allows them to practice their profession with design excellence, moral integrity and a sense of public service.
The proposal incorporates mechanisms for continuous updating, ensuring relevance in the face of technological evolution and alignment with international standards, while preserving the distinctive character of Universidad Privada de Tacna (UPT) 's formation.
