4.1. Course Coding

Courses are classified into 4 levels:

  • Introductory Code 1.. example: CS100
  • Intermediate Code 2.. example: MA200
  • Advanced Code 3.. example: IS370
  • Capstone Project Code 4.. example: CS403

The courses are encoded under the scheme shown in Figure 4.1.

The course type is determined by the initial letters. The possible codes for these types are:

  1. CS Computer Science (CS);
  2. BIC Computer Science (BIC);
  3. AI Artificial Intelligence (AI);
  4. MA Mathematics (MA);
  5. BMA Mathematics (BMA);
  6. STA Statistics (ST);
  7. CB Basic Sciences (Physics, Biology);
  8. FI Physics
  9. BFI Physic Sciences
  10. BCH Chemistry (BCH);
  11. FG General Education Area;
  12. EX Extracurricular cctivities
  13. BEI Languages Area

At the same time, and according to current university law, courses are classified into:

  • General studies
  • Specific
  • Specialization
