6.1. Course Coding

Courses are classified into 4 levels:

  • Introductory Code 1.. example: CS100
  • Intermediate Code 2.. example: MA200
  • Advanced Code 3.. example: IS370
  • Capstone Project Code 4.. example: CS403

The courses are encoded under the scheme shown in Figure fig:course-coding.

The course type is determined by the initial letters. The possible codes for these types are:

  1. CE Computer Engineering (CE),
  2. CS Computer Science (CS);
  3. AI Artificial Intelligence (AI);
  4. CB Basic Sciences (Physics, Biology);
  5. MA Mathematics (MA);
  6. STA Statistics (STA);
  7. BFI Physic Sciences
  8. BCH Chemical Sciences (CH);
  9. ID Languages Area.
  10. BEF Ethics and Political Philosophy
  11. BME Learning Methodology
  12. BRC Writing and Communication
  13. BLW Law and Legislation
  14. BMI Research Methodology in Engineering
  15. BIC Introduction to Computing
  16. BEC General Economics

At the same time, and according to current university law, courses are classified into:

  • General studies
  • Specific
  • Specialization
